FAQ

Every BroCoLoco piece begins with curiosity and craft. Whether you’re a designer specifying a new project or simply exploring, we’re here to help bring texture, artistry, and warmth to your space.

  • Each work is crafted from natural fibers — primarily cotton and jute — with select accent cords made from post-consumer recycled textiles. Our approach is low-waste, chemical-free, and rooted in natural beauty and tactile warmth.

  • Yes. Sustainability is built into our process — not as a trend, but as a principle. We use recycled garment-industry cottons, organic fibers, and biodegradable components whenever possible.

  • Our rope and textile works are designed for interior use. While several installations exist in open-air tropical settings, we don’t formally recommend exterior exposure. All cottons are fire-treated with a natural, salt-based retardant and can be moisture-guarded upon request.

  • Yes. Every BroCoLoco piece can be treated with a mineral-based, chemical-free, Class-A fire retardant made in the USA. Optional moisture and stain guards are also available.

  • Yes. The natural rope fibers and recycled cotton sound batting used in many designs significantly reduce reverberation. Materials have been lab-tested for acoustic absorption, though full-room ratings may vary by installation.

Materials & Sustainability

  • Absolutely. Every piece is made to order and most can be tailored to your palette, dimensions, and mounting needs. Our modular system makes scaling and adapting easy for designers. We often have access to batch color offerings through partnerships that aren’t always advertised, so feel free to ask about specific hues you’re needing.

  • Currently, our collections focus on natural and recycled fibers to align with our brand ethos. However, we’re actively exploring sustainable synthetic alternatives for select environments and hospitality clients with a key fiber partner in Spain.

  • Each piece is made to order — eliminating excess inventory and waste. Offcuts are reused in smaller products, samples, or modular panels, ensuring nearly every material finds new purpose. Many of our cords are made from up to 95% recycled cottons with almost everything we use being derived from natural or recyclable materials.

Customization & Craft

  • Most panels arrive ready to mount and include clear specifications. For large-scale or custom works, we provide detailed drawings and remote or onsite coordination with your contractor or GC.

  • We occasionally take on up to five large-scale custom installations per year (typically over $100K). These projects often involve our artisans traveling to ensure creative integrity and precision.

  • Most standard pieces ship within 8–10 weeks. Large-scale or bespoke projects may take 12–20 weeks. Rush production is often possible — reach out early to secure your timeline.

  • Yes. We frequently ship to design projects around the world — including island resorts, Europe, and the Middle East. We do ask clients to arrange their own pick-up and handle export dues. Modular construction allows for efficient freight or parcel shipping, which our team will pack.

Installation & Logistics

  • Yes. We can provide 2D and 3D files to help integrate our products into your plans, specifications, and presentations.

  • Visit our Custom Rope Art page or Contact us with your drawings, dimensions, and goals. We’ll respond with ideas, samples, and a tailored proposal.

Design Collaboration

  • BroCoLoco began as shorthand for The Brothers Company Art Ventures — a creative partnership between brothers Aaron & Jared Scales, founded in D.C. Over time, the name evolved into its own expression: one that stands for collaboration, curiosity, and creative spirit.
